The Law of Attraction Simplified
When you think about it, many principles that teach us how to lead a good life all have one thing in common: the law of attraction. The basic idea of giving out to the world what you wish to receive in turn is so deeply embedded in various religions and spiritual beliefs that we tend to overlook the all-encompassing power of this work. For instance, Buddhists believe in karma, Confucianists believe in the golden rule, and even Christians believe in doing good in this life to end up living the eternal life in heaven. All of these are variations of the law of being positive and receiving positive things in return.
Humble beginnings
Historically speaking, the phrase “law of attraction” was first coined and used in 1906 by William Walker Atkinson when he published his book entitled, “Thought Vibration or the Law of Attraction in the Thought World.” Then, in 1910, this was followed by the book written by Wallace Delois Wattles entitled, “The Science of Getting Rich,” in which he clarified the creative role of positive thoughts in bringing about corresponding changes in one’s life. Since then, many authors followed suit, providing us with comprehensive and diverse views of how the law of attraction operates and how we can make it work for us.
Rhonda Bynes’ “The Secret”
Of all the authors who have proposed the so-called law of attraction, none has gained as much success as Rhonda Bynes, whose work (“The Secret”) released in 2006 has become mainly responsible for the explosion of interest in the past few years. Indeed, she credited Wallace Wattles as her main inspiration. The movie is divided into several segments that explain the “Secret,” teach us how to use it, familiarize us with the powerful process of visualization, and teach us how to apply it different areas of our life (health, relationships, finances, and so on). Let us take a look at some of the more effective passages from the movie.
The Main Principles of the “The Secret”
The first main idea in the movie is the notion that “thoughts become things.” First of all, whatever we think about on a regular basis would manifest in our environment in one way or another. Thus, when we keep on thinking of negative things, the law of attraction states that we would only attract negative things. On the other hand, positive thoughts also produce positive results. Indeed, according to the movie, “What you think and feel and what will manifest always match—no exceptions.
Now, how do we use the secret? It teaches us the three-step process to produce positive results: 1) Ask (through positive thoughts); 2) Answer (by zooming in on what you really want, such as a new house, a car, a relationship, and so on); and 3) Receive (by claiming that what you wish for even without knowing how, when, and where it will come from).
By practicing these basic principles of the law of attraction, you too can lead a better life. By only thinking positive thoughts, you will attract success in all aspects of your life in no time.
